Bricks on the Track: F1 Drivers Parade in Life-Size LEGO Cars at 2025 Miami GP

The Miami Grand Prix has always been about excitement: fast cars, famous people, and big moments. However, this year it was a group of LEGO bricks that got all the attention. No one saw this coming: Formula 1 drivers showed up for their pre-race parade lap in full-size LEGO race cars that they could drive. That's right, real cars made out of LEGO that could move.

Let’s explore more about the 2025 Miami Grand Prix, delivering an unforgettable spectacle that blended high-octane racing with childhood nostalgia!

A Parade Like No Other

All 20 F1 drivers left the typical flatbed truck procession to drive custom-built LEGO cars on the 5.4 km Miami International Autodrome. Every one of the ten teams was represented by a custom LEGO car painstakingly designed to reflect their real-life counterparts, complete with genuine liveries and sponsor logos. Weighing about 1,500 kg, these remarkable cars were made from roughly 400,000 LEGO pieces and could reach speeds up to 20 km/h.

Engineering Marvels

It was no easy task to make these LEGO F1 cars. Over 22,000 hours of hard work were put in by 26 designers and engineers at LEGO's Kladno factory in the Czech Republic to make this dream come true. The cars had real Pirelli tires and were made so that they could fit two people inside, so both drivers from each team could be in the parade.

Drivers Behind the Wheel

The drivers really got into the fun vibe of the event. Lewis Hamilton said it was the funniest parade he had ever seen, and Max Verstappen found it funny that some light collisions left LEGO pieces on the track. Many people really liked the event because the drivers got along with each other and competed in a fun way.
