WHAT IS THROTTLE LAG?

The Cadillac Escalade uses a drive-by-wire throttle system, so when you press the gas pedal, an electronic signal travels to the ECU, which then commands the throttle body to open. That processing chain introduces an inherent delay before the engine responds. GM also programs additional lag into the ECU calibration to smooth out driveline behavior, meet emissions requirements, and cater to a wider range of drivers.

The Escalade's size and weight make it worse. The ECU maps throttle response conservatively so the engine often feels muted relative to pedal pressure. The Pedal Commander® throttle response controller is the fix for the annoying throttle lag. It eliminates the delay caused by the factory throttle tuning, waking up your Cadillac Escalade by unlocking its true potential.

The basic steps of the Pedal Commander® installation are always the same regardless of the vehicle's make and model:

Turn off the ignition and wait 10-15 minutes with your driver's door open to allow your ECU to shut down.

Disconnect your accelerator pedal assembly plug, then plug in the heads to connectors on the Pedal Commander® harness.

Clean up the area where you want to mount the control unit with the alcohol wipe. Stick the bracket with the supplied velcro.

After you make sure the cables are secure and won't be tangled, you are ready to enjoy Pedal Commander®.

I don’t have enough time in my truck yet to be ready to tell a potential customer about it yet, however I do love the extreme wake up call my truck is showing me. My concerns are the issues that have affected other similar trucks that the unit disabled the truck on the side of the road until removed from the loop. As well as the issue of transmission behavior, speed at which it keeps up and downshifts when letting off the gas and being in traffic. Obviously all of us are “heavy footers”, but I’m always being smacked in the arm by my wife and yelled at that we aren’t being chased by the police so chill out.. So in traffic, the way that it affects my truck is all that I’m still not completely sold on yet but will be driving alot next few days

2017 Cadillac Escalade, This was a very easy install, I tested it first in City 2 then 3 and 4, I also tested it in Sport 1 and 2 and also in Sport +. Sport + was kinda cool but for obvious reasons its not for this vehicle, I can deal with Sport 1 but really its just too much for this truck. I settled on City 3 which seems to be about right and will probably not decrease any fuel mileage (only a trip or 2 will tell tho) I like the responsiveness of the truck now, in the past it lags hard and causes the rear end to clunk a little bit, I think because it is more responsive it takes that clunk out (again only time will tell) It seems to pressurize the fuel rail I just wonder what the long time effect will have on things. I believe overall it is a very good product and is inline with the old tuners. This take all the brains away and only uses very simple instructions. Yes I will probably buy 2 more at some point one for 2022 GMC 2500 HD and the another for my 2014 XTS V.

I have a 2007 Escalade which i recently installed a High Performance LS3 Crate engine in it along with my headers and my Cold flow intake with a really modified exhaust system. 460 HP but really wasn't fast or just as fast as my last stock motor. Once i installed the Pedal commander it was a game changer. It will Smoke the tires and goes sideways in 2nd and 3rd. LOVE It!!! I put it in ECO mode today level1 as it should be and got way better mileage. I don't recommend the Commander i Command whoever i'm talking to buy one. Very Impressed.

Good friend of mine suggested Pedal Commader and I didn’t hesitate to buy cause I had just installed the K&N Blackhawk Cold Air on my Escalade. Racing stickers don’t make your car faster, but somehow, probably magic, this made my car louder. My wife has a used 2016 Escalade with a similar unit but even in “sport” mode my 2018 ESV felt pokey and unrewarding in comparison. Like an executive limo, which according to the out of state title it was. It would go fine when you really mashed on it but really felt like driving our old Suburban. Installed this little gem and sport plus mode truly terrified me… and that’s with my other car being a WRX. I had to bump it down to “just” sport. Aggressive. Angry. It somehow defied the laws of physics and made it louder. Do the wires have unicorn dust that puts holes in the exhaust manifold? Is the spirit of an aftermarket exhaust conjured? Or does it just override nanny state General Motors handicapping the 6.2 liter to make national gas mileage requirements and make it the actual 6.2 American muscle it is? Ok. Its the last one. Even without unicorn dust you won’t regret it. It feels right. It sounds right. Order in the universe has been restored.

My 2016 Escalade always had what I thought was a flat spot when I would press down on the gas pedal nothing would happen at first, like it had delayed reaction. Then I started watching YouTube videos about people that had installed it and liked it. I purchased one and installed it and on city mode it is a night and day difference in how my Escalade performs. The Pedal Commander is a must have for anyone looking to add a little fun and acceleration to your vehicle. This my second one I have purchased. The first one was in my 16 Sierra Denali with the 6.2L . It just wasn't responding when you push the gas . So first I but a bought a high dollar programmer . It still didn't do what I thought it should . So I remembered seeing the Commander while I was looking for the programmer . So I purchased it and installed and downloaded the app in less than 10 min. Let me tell you I have never had a vehicle go from granny gear to street racer just from plugging something in. My wife said I had a smile on my face like i just won the lottery.So I had to buy one for my wife's 13 Cadillac Escalade with the 6.2L.
